the last workshop

This is the last workshop that we had.
The last paragraph that we made are illustrative and persuasive.
Based on my uderstanding, illustrative paragraph discribe something or event, or others, but we do not use 5 senses like in discriptive. the outhor must explain what happen or the situation. so the readers can imagine it.
While we use persuasive paragraph to ask the readers to do something. We can use imperative sentences and we must give the reasons or the examples why the reader should do like in the paragraph.

2 weeks

In 17 of October 2012, we discussed about proses analysis paragraph. When I wrote analysis paragraph, I learned that we must still give the concluding sentence because good paragraph must have concluding sentence. If we want to make our paragraph more coherent we can add transition in our paragraph. For examples after that, after this, as, finally, next, etc. The next meeting is 19 of October 2012. In this meeting we discussed abour definition paragraph. A defition paragraph tells what a word means but it doesn't mean dictionary definition. In this meeting, I reviewed Yogi's paragraph but I faced difficulty. I asked Okta and Dina to help me. We discussed together. They explained many things for me. Thank you so much Okta and Dina for your helping. and the last meeting is 24 of October 2012. In this meeting we discussed about argumentative paragraph. In argumentative paragraph, the author must have clear topic sentence that states his position on the issue.we can end our paragraph with concluding sentence than can summarizes the main idea of the paragraph and it should strong statement.

Last week

Last week, we had 3 meetings in writing class. The first meeting is monday (October 8th). In this day, we had workshop about cause and effect paragraph. Sometimes, cause and effect paragraph can only focus on or the effect. But we must know, if there is effect of course we can find the cause. The second meeting is wednesday(Oct 10th). In This meeting, there are three friend who presented their paragraph which had been analysed by them.One of presenter is Trias. When she presented her paragraph, she guessed that her paragraph is persuasive and we discussed it. Because of this reason, I got more information about persuasive paragraph. Persuasive paragraph give detail information to persuade and convince the readers to do or to follow like the author said in his paragraph. The last meeting is friday (Oct 12th). In this meeting , we had workshop about clasification paragraph. In clasification paragraph we also need transition to make clear categories. The transition can tell to the readers when we are moving from one categori to another category. For me, three meetings in writing class last week is important to improve my writing skill.
My problem: I think, I feel hard to speak up when we have discuss or my friends have presentation, but I understand what the materials that we discuss it.

New Experience

 This meeting is very wonderful and this is my first time to know Miss Vita angry. Beside that I can get many things from our meeting (28th September 2012) not only in academic but also in value of life.
If we talk about academic, back to our theme, that is paragraph. Every paragraph have main idea and we can not divide one paragraph into some paragraph because they in ! main idea. We must always remember that in the topic sentence or main idea there is topic of paragraph. Topic paragraph always in phrase or word not in sentence. In this meeting, there are many friends that present their paragraph. We discussed about many types of paragraph, such as definition, argumentative, cause and effect, etc. In argumentative paragraph the author in definite position (agree or disagree with the statement). The author can say that they agree or not in the second sentence after general statement and then their reason. In cause and effect paragraph always show the cause and the effect but sometimes the author most pay attention on the cause or the effect or both of them. In the report paragraph the author just report or give simple information not in very detail information. We must carefully when we identify paragraph or make paragraph.
In this meeting I learn that we must responsible in every things. We must try to do the best and maxcimum if we want to get the best. We can not give up. we must try to improve every thing, learn from mistake can make us better.And I will try it. So guys don't forget to correct my composition. I say thanks for you all.

the points

I am very happy in my class because all my classmates help me to understand all materials from all lessons. In last meeting, 21st September 2012 at writing class we discussed about types of paragraph. Many friends presented their paragraph.
After discussed, here is points that i got :

• first is about argumentative paragraph. Argumentative paragraph always has clear motion, and the authors give their opinion, they agree or disagree with the motion.
• Definition paragraph we must show clear basic definition, examples, and details of examples. We can use experience for the examples, but not in details setting like in narrative paragraph. we can say that definition paragraph is part of expository paragraph or exposition paragraph because the function of definition paragraph to give information  for the readers.
• the last, we can know type of paragraph from the purpose of paragraph, the function of paragraph, and the characteristic of paragraph.

I NEVER GIVE UP TO GET THE BEST IN MY LIFE

Information from Discussion

In Friday, 14 September 2012, we still discussed about paragraph in our writing class. There were four students who presented their paragraph. For the first presenter is Putri. She presented clear paragraph about comparative and proses analysis paragraph. The next presenter is Yogi. He presented confusing paragraph. We can not know what the type of paragraph is, because he have been modified his paragraph. After that, the presenter is Nita. She present about illustration paragraph. The last presenter is Okta. She presented about discripsion paragraph.
There are many points and new knowledge which I could get from discussion:
o) In comparative paragraph, the topic sentence show somethings that we compare is. It can make us know that the paragraph is comparative paragraph.
o) Actually, proses analysis show in points or in steps, but it is better that we show in paragraph. It can easier to learn about the topic sentence, supporting sentences, and concluding sentence, because we discuss about paragraph.
o) The topic sentence not always the whole of the first sentence. Sometimes, we can make the topic sentence by our own sentence.
o) Topic paragraph is in phrase but topic sentence is always in sentence. Topic sentence always have subject and object. That is the difference between topic and topic sentence.
o) The last, we must always remember, if we want to make a good paragraph, it must coherent thoughts from one sentence to the next.

The new experience

Yesterday, in writing class, we discussed about paragraph. We identified paragraphs together, because two days ago my friends and I got assignment from Miss Vita to identify paragraph. We must identify at least  two types of paragraphs. Actually, i forgot that miss vita said like that. I thought, Miss vita said that we will identify all types of paragraph, like the examples of paragraph which have given before. Because of this reason, I identified 8 types of paragraph. In fact, not at all I could understand the types of paragraph. I have much problems when I identified paragraph. I did not know the key word or the key sentence from those paragraphs which can make us know the types of paragraph.

After I joined in writing class yesterday and discussed about types of paragraph, i know and understand how i know the types of paragraph. Before we discussed one by one the students presented their paragraphs.There are tree students who presented, Iswatin, Dina, and Lalang.  For the first iswatin, we could not know what the type of her paragraph, because she take this paragraph from essay. The paragraph in essay usually has relation from first paragraph until the last paragraph. After Dina presented I could conclude that the types of paragraph depend on the purpose of that paragraph it self, and from Lalang's paragraph is a nrration paragraph. From discussion, I know if paragraph is cause and effect paragraph, the main point must explain cause, effect, or both of them. Moreover, Miss vita showed the steps to make good paragraph and the steps to know what the types of paragraph is.

However, i still confused in illustration paragraph. I face difficulty to show my opinion in direct speaking. I hope all of you can help me to practice it and give more explanation about paragraph.

paragraph

     A paragraph is a group of sentences. Paragraph can stand alone or as part of an essay, but each paragraph covers only one main idea. the main idea in paragraph is called the theme. Each paragraph there are topic sentence, supporting sentence, and final or concluding sentence.
     Topic sentence is the firs sentence of paragraph. Topic sentence tells what your idea or tells the paragraph is about. It is the most important sentence in paragraph.
     Supporting sentences help to develops the main idea of paragraph. Here, we give details information and specific examples as evidence of our pint.
     There are seven types of paragraph development :
1. Exposition
    The function of this paragraph to give information or explain something. Exposition paragraph give clear information to the readers. Because of the complete information, the readers can get new knowledge.
2. Definition
     The function of this paragraph to tells the meaning, origin, and function of something. The definition paragraph is informal definition of term to to explain what it is the writer meant.
3. Description
     The paragraph makes the readers know or can imagine some situation or something.
4. Comparison
      The paragraph gives information to the readers with compare two or more things. we can see how things are similar or different.
5. Process Analysis
     The paragraph explains a set of steps in order to complete goal. We can put the steps into sequence to make easy the readers to understand the steps.
6. Persuasion
     The function of this paragraph to convince or persuade the readers to change their minds or to take an action.
7. Narration
     The paragraph explain what, when, who. Narration paragraph are usually written in chronological order. The component of of narration are a protagonist, a setting, a goal, an obstacle, a climax, and a resolution.
